A Gift of Hope: CARES Program Receives $100,000 Endowment

Marshall is proud to share exciting news about the future of our CARES (Clinically Assisted Recovery and Education Services) program. A generous $50,000 gift from an anonymous local donor, matched by the Marshall Foundation for Community Health, has created a $100,000 endowment to support patients who are uninsured or underinsured as they take their first steps toward recovery.

This endowment ensures that when patients come to us ready to begin their journey, we can act immediately. Too often, individuals face delays in treatment because they cannot access the medications needed to safely start recovery. With this new funding, prescriptions can be provided right away, giving patients the best possible chance at lasting success.

“This funding ensures that when someone walks through our doors and is ready to begin their recovery, we don’t have to wait for insurance to catch up,” said Josh Clark, Program Manager at CARES. “It allows us to cover the cost of the medications and get them started right away. That window of time can be the difference between someone getting well or falling back into crisis.”

“This endowment was made possible by a truly generous act,” said Mindy Danovaro, Executive Director of the Marshall Foundation for Community Health. “It reflects the heart of this community. When we improve access to care, we reduce emergency visits, lighten the strain on our healthcare system, and help create a healthier El Dorado County.”

The CARES program is something we can all be proud of. Developed here at Marshall, it has already become a model of care for hospitals across the country. With its unique combination of medical care, counseling, peer support, and community navigation, CARES has transformed lives, and this new endowment strengthens that impact for years to come.
