Estate Planning for the Rest of Us! Looking Beyond the Mega-Rich for Planned Giving Prospects
Non-profits often look to only their wealthiest donors – or donors who have given the biggest gifts – as potential planned giving prospects. Unfortunately, this approach often keeps us from approaching mid-range donors who firmly believe in our cause and have the resources to provide significant gifts through a variety of planned giving instruments
Benefits of Attending:
In this session, we will learn how to broaden our view of estate planning and learn about estate planning techniques that work well with donors at a variety of income and engagement levels. Speaker Darren Penny has more than 17 years of experience as a development professional, and now works as an estate planning expert with Thompson and Associates.
Darren Penny has worked in philanthropy for 17 years and his experiences range from higher education, an international NGO, healthcare, and numerous volunteer boards and committees. As a seasoned development professional who appreciates the multi-faceted work of his profession, Darren is passionate about making an impact through philanthropy. He holds a BA, an MBA, and has recently completed his Ph.D. coursework. His dissertation research is currently in process.
When he is not meeting with donors or mentoring young development professionals Darren enjoys exploring the West in any way he can. From backpacking, flying, mountain biking, or running – the landscape of California and beyond is an irresistible invitation to explore. He is a 6-year US Navy veteran who was assigned to an F/A-18 squadron on the West coast.
